Rio Timer is a NinjaTrader 8 Desktop indicator. After the approved vendor package is installed, open a chart, open the Indicators window, select Rio Timer, and add it to the chart. Final package-specific installation steps will accompany commercial distribution.
Rio Timer adapts its primary progress measurement to the chart. Time-based bars show remaining time. Tick bars track progress toward the configured tick count. Volume bars track progress toward the configured volume amount.
Rio Timer supports multiple compact presentation modes, including countdown, count-up, percentage, minimal progress, and time-only behavior where applicable. Click-to-cycle can be enabled so the visible mode can be changed directly from the chart.
Rio Timer can surface Asia, London, and New York opening awareness. The public Session Open Countdowns setting controls these countdowns together, while the underlying session logic remains independent.
Optional Market Intelligence can show compact session VWAP context. VWAP distance is shown in points by default and can be changed to ticks in settings. The display is intended as lightweight context rather than a separate analytics dashboard.
Rio Timer can be dragged to a preferred chart location. Its saved position and display state are designed to persist when the workspace is saved, through chart reloads, workspace changes, and NinjaTrader restarts. Use Reset Position when you want to return it to its default location.
Rio Timer has been validated in NinjaTrader Playback and through F5/chart reload workflows. Playback uses replay market time rather than the computer clock, while the user interface remains responsive when replay is paused.
Rio Timer has been tested across multiple charts and connection changes. If one connection is removed while another usable price connection remains, the timer is designed to continue without requiring a manual F5 reload.
Rio Timer avoids inventing a completion percentage when a chart structure does not expose a truthful supported progress measurement. In those cases it uses a conservative elapsed-time style rather than presenting a false bar-completion estimate.
If Rio Timer is not updating as expected, first confirm NinjaTrader has an active usable market-data connection and that the chart itself is receiving data.
