Rio Timer Documentation

Rio Timer is distributed as a protected NinjaTrader 8 NinjaScript package. Licensed customers can download the current release from My Account.

1. Download RioTimer_v1.2.1.zip. Do not extract the ZIP.
2. Open NinjaTrader 8 Desktop.
3. From the Control Center, choose Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On.
4. Select the downloaded Rio Timer ZIP and complete the import.
5. Open or create a chart, open the Indicators window, select Rio Timer, and add it to the chart.

Rio Timer uses NinjaTrader vendor licensing. An active Rio Timer entitlement is required for the indicator to run. The same protected customer ZIP is used for licensed customers; authorization is handled by NinjaTrader when Rio Timer loads.

If NinjaTrader reports that a license is required, confirm that the NinjaTrader user associated with your license is the one currently signed in. If the issue remains, contact Rio Matrix Support.

Rio Timer uses a progress model that matches the way the active chart is constructed.

• Time charts: countdown/progress is based on the current bar's time interval.
• Tick charts: progress is measured against the configured tick count.
• Volume charts: progress is measured against the configured volume amount.
• Order Flow Volumetric: supported when the Volumetric chart uses a supported underlying period, including standard Minute-based configurations such as 1 Minute Volumetric.

Rio Timer does not fabricate a countdown or completion percentage for chart structures that do not have a supported bar-completion model. For example, Range charts display RANGE NOT SUPPORTED instead of a misleading timer.

The unsupported message applies only to the bar-timer capability. Session awareness, supported VWAP context, and Market Intelligence can remain available when their own requirements are satisfied.

Rio Timer supports multiple compact presentation modes, including countdown, count-up, percentage, minimal progress, and time-only behavior where applicable. Click-to-cycle can be enabled so the visible mode can be changed directly from the chart.

The selected display mode is designed to persist through F5/chart reconstruction. Widget position is also designed to remain independent across charts and persist with saved workspaces and NinjaTrader restarts.

Rio Timer can surface Asia, London, and New York opening awareness. Session-open countdowns operate independently from Market Intelligence so important opening events can remain available even when Intelligence is disabled.

Optional Market Intelligence can show compact session VWAP context. VWAP distance is shown in points by default and can be changed to ticks in settings. This information is intended as lightweight chart context rather than a separate analytics dashboard.

Immediately after an F5 reload, the time-based countdown may become available before VWAP finishes rebuilding from loaded chart data. A brief VWAP delay during that reconstruction is normal.

Rio Timer has been validated in NinjaTrader Playback and through F5/chart reload workflows. Playback uses replay market time rather than the computer clock.

On supported time charts, the timer can resolve the active interval immediately after reconstruction rather than waiting for a new live bar update. Tick and Volume progress are designed to recover appropriately through F5 without carrying a previous bar's progress into the next bar.

Rio Timer is designed to remain active as long as NinjaTrader still has at least one usable price-data connection. Disconnecting one provider while another valid connection remains should not force the timer into a false disconnected state.

Rio Timer has also been tested across multiple charts with independent display modes and widget positions.

When a newer customer release is published, the current version will appear in My Account. Use the Rio Matrix-provided ZIP for updates and keep the ZIP intact for NinjaTrader import.

If an update ever includes special removal or migration instructions, those instructions will be published with that release. Do not manually remove NinjaTrader files unless Rio Matrix Support specifically instructs you to do so.

If Rio Timer is not updating as expected, first confirm that the chart itself is receiving current data and that NinjaTrader has at least one usable price-data connection. Confirm that the chart type is supported; unsupported structures will identify themselves in the Rio Timer display.
